We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but please make sure that you take care of your ticket as we will not provide new tickets for those that are accidentally misplaced. No exceptions. We have had past incidents of fraud and, unfortunately, these few "bad seeds" have forced us to make this decision.
- I am a Companion Card holder and would like to attend Breath of Life Festival? What is your policy?
- As with all OPCON events, Breath of Life Festival is a member of, and supports the Tasmanian Companion Card Program. Any Companion Card holder who purchases an Breath of Life ticket will be given free entry for their carer. - Can I bring food and drink with me to the festival?
- Please be advised that for security reasons no hard/soft plastic containers/ESKIES will be allowed into the venue. We understand that people want to bring snacks with them, but please be advised that only clear plastic bags will be allowed on the premises. (One plastic bag per person.) We have 13,000 + people who will be entering and want to make the job for security as easy as possible. NO DRINK CONTAINERS / CUPS/ BOTTLES WILL BE ALLOWED. There will be free water available on site.
- Will there be "pass outs" at the festival?
- Due to licensing and security restrictions, we will NOT be giving pass outs for either day of Breath of Life Festival. A cloakroom will be available at the festival to either check in items or carry any jumpers, jackets, hats etc. Although we are predicting a beautiful, warm day, please be prepared with everything you will need for the day and night. Otherwise, merchandise will be available for purchase on the day.
- Will there be someplace for me to check in my extra clothes/bags?
- There is a cloakroom on site for people to check in personal belongings. Please be advised that event organisers/cloakroom personnel can not take any responsibility for anything lost, broken or stolen from the cloakroom. It’s a busy day with literally thousands of things being checked in. Our staff has done an amazing job keeping our record flawless so far, but you might want to hold off checking in family heirlooms or your brand new camera just in case.
- Will there be atms on site?
- Eftpos facilities will be available (see site map for details). As this is a temporary service, it is not totally reliable throughout the day. We advise that you bring enough cash for food, drink and possibly, a festival T-shirt.
- Am I allowed to bring a camera to the festival?
- Yes you can, but please note that only small lens still cameras are permitted, no video cameras, professional still cameras or recording equipment. You will not gain entry to the site whilst in possession of the above and will be asked to return them to your vehicle or accommodation.
- My child is only 12, is it safe for her/him to attend?
- We work very closely with Police, Licensing and Security to make sure Breath of Life Festival is safe and secure for everyone of all ages. Your safety is our priority. Although the site has a "no pass outs" policy making it even safer for everyone who attends, we prefer children to be accompanied by adults 18+ with a designated meeting area in case of separation. If you have any questions throughout the day or are concerned, please approach one of our security or first aid staff to assist.
- RSA at Breath of Life
-
While we want ensure that everyone has the best possible experience at Breath of Life Festival, safety and RSA is something we take very seriously.
Saturday will offer a fully licensed event, requiring 18+ ID wristbands for alcohol service. RSA trained staff will also continue to check IDs throughout the day for those with or without wristbands;
Sunday will offer a designated licensed area where IDs will be vigorously checked. No one under the age of 18 and/or not carrying a current photo ID will be allowed in the licensed area and IDs will continue to be checked throughout the day for those with or without wristbands.
The site will also offer an area where festival-goers can go relax and speak to professionals who are specially trained to answer any queries or concerns. Please be patient and understanding. Your safety is our priority. - I have a pet that I would like to bring to the festival, will he/she be allowed or will I have to smuggle them in?
- We love our cuddly friends as much as everyone. However, sometimes our little friends can make people uncomfortable or become a health problem where food is around. You are more than welcome to attempt to smuggle your fuzzy friends in, but we can almost guarantee that you will be caught, cause a delay in the line and most likely not be very popular among other festival goers looking to get in and have fun.

Planning for the show
- Remember to bring ID, your ticket, important phone numbers, a watch, any medication you may need, a hat, charged mobile phone & still camera if you want plus enough cash for the day. If you have any chronic conditions or illness (i.e. epilepsy, diabetes, asthma) be sure to carry information regarding your condition & emergency contact number on your person at all times. Making a list isn't a bad idea.
- Allow enough time to get to & into the show. Presume around 20minutes to get through the gates & security checks depending on the time of day.
- Dress for the day & weather. Wear sensible shoes & clothes. Avoid wearing jewellery that could potentially harm yourself or others.
- You should bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, or a raincoat if weather indicates.
- Bringing a bag or pack is handy but remember it will take longer to get into the show & if you want to check it in it will add two more cues to your day. You can bring food into the event but only in a clear plastic bag (One plastic bag per person).
- The use of earplugs is recommended if long term hearing loss is of concern to you. The Promoters of the event will not be held liable for any hearing damage or loss.
- DRUGS AND ALCOHOL- Breath of Life Festival has a Zero Tolerance Rule- Anyone caught holding or dealing ANY illegal substances will be treated the same way as anywhere else. It is highly likely that Police will be at the festival entrances with drug sniffer dogs.
- As above- Don't turn up drunk or out of it as you WILL be refused entry or will probably pass out before you see any of the bands you paid to see.
- If you intend to meet up with you friend outside the event beforehand it is wise to choose a specific spot & time especially if they have your ticket.
- PASS OUTS- There will be NO pass outs at the event (including VIP area) so come with everything you need for the day. Only pre-arranged pass outs will be accepted. If you have a valid medical reason why you must leave the site, please contact organisers at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) prior to the festival day.
- You should bring adequate cash for the whole day, as the mobile Eftpos terminals on site are not 100% reliable.
- Check the back of your ticket for restricted items conditions such as Video cameras, alcohol & umbrellas as we have no provision to check them in so you will need to get rid of it or take it back home or to your car.
- Avoid dehydration - don't forget to drink water. See site map for 'Free Water' locations.
- Try to have a good breakfast & keep patient & calm. It will be a long and hopefully fantastic day.
- In order to maintain the Breath of Life Festival as a clean event, we encourage all festival-goers to utilise the refuse facilities provided throughout the site. It's your site: keep it clean!!
Making sure you have the best festival experience...
Once on site, it is important to plan your day. Obviously the priority is making sure you get to see the acts that mean the most to you but don't forget the basics.
- If you are with friends & intend to travel home together arrange a place & time to meet up at the end of the night.
- Large crowds, a long day & hot weather in combination will tire you out. Make sure you pace yourself, drink plenty of water, eat some food that will give you some energy & minimize sun exposure.
- Excessive use of mind altering substances of any kind including alcohol can result in the day changing from fantastic to a nightmare in a very short amount of time.
-
Don't be afraid to tell us if something is going wrong. We have people on site who are specifically there to help. Depending on the problem, the following people are there to help:
- Red Cross save-a-mate (SAM) attend festivals and promote 'safe partying' to festival patrons. SAM staff are easy to spot can be found throughout the site and at designated sites at the MAIN ARENA and MAIN ENTRANCE to the site. SAM staff have a non judgemental attitude, are trained and can assist you if need first aid care or have any questions related to drinking, drug use or general health.
-
If you have a serious health problem or see someone at risk, ST. JOHNS AMBULANCE are medically trained professionals that can assist. ST. JOHNS AMBULANCE staff can be found throughout the site and at designated FIRST AID areas at the front and back of the site. ST. JOHNS AMBULANCE are on site with:
- Qualified first aiders;
- Emergency ambulances and crew;
- Emergency vehicles;
- Registered nurses, paramedics and doctors;
- Mobile command and control facilities;
- Whether it's entering, leaving or in the festival you will be required to abide by any reasonable request or command from the Breath of Life Festival SECURITY AND POLICE. Remember that they are primarily there to keep the entire festival safe. If you need help or see someone needing help please notify them straight away. In some cases we may need to clear a path or area and SECURITY AND POLICE may need to react quickly. Please follow there directions if required as someone’s safety may depend on it, maybe your own.
Tips to reduce excessive drinking
- Know your limits and to stick to them. This will stop you from drinking more than you can handle.
- Try to avoid drinking games where the idea is to get drunk quickly. This includes sculling drinks.
- For every alcoholic drink, plan to alternate with a non-alcoholic drink.
- EAT!! EAT!! EAT!! An empty stomach can increase the effects of alcohol. Before you leave for the event, make sure you have a big breakfast, and take time out between sets to have something to eat throughout the day.
- Avoid rounds or shouts. You are likely to drink more to keep up with your friends.
- With so many cool bands and things to do at the Breath of Life Festival, there is no excuse for staying in one spot drinking all day. Get up, move around and dance to avoid continuous drinking.
Plan ahead and stay safe
- Arrange a designated driver or get a taxi or bus home with friends.
- Ensure you can call a friend or family member if you need help.
- To avoid drink spiking, watch your drink at all times, and never leave it unattended.
- Keep an eye out for your friends. Keep a general watch over their drinks and actions and help them out if they need it.
- Check out www.australia.gov.au/drinkingnightmare for more information on the Australian Government’s Don’t turn a night out into a nightmare campaign.
Stage crowd controls
Crowd surfing, moshing & circle dancing are dangerous activities & will not be tolerated. Offenders will either be banned from the area or removed from the site.
Water may also be sprayed on the audience in this area so mobile phones & cameras are at risk.
Please consider others as well as your own safety, especially in front of stages. If someone falls down or is in distress please help them if you can or let the SECURITY, POLICE, SAM TEAMS, OR ST.JOHNS AMBULANCE know so they can assist.
Emergency Evacuation
Under extreme & unlikely circumstances an area or the entire site may be required to be evacuated or cleared. It will be imperative for you to follow all instructions & directions from emergency services, police, fire brigade & / or our security that would be requested of you in such a situation.
First Aid
There will be a First Aid station on site to treat people (see Site Map) who are genuinely ill or have injured themselves on the day. Try to minimize your demands on them if it does not relate to real issues as they have a very long demanding day. These people are volunteers & we owe them a great deal of gratitude for all their skills & support.
Getting to and from the festival safely - do not drink and drive!!!!
